Reduce steady noise in the browser
Turn down steady hiss and room tone. The file stays on this device. Speech and music that sit above the hiss are left in place.
Drop noisy audio
The file stays on this device.
MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, OPUS, AAC, FLAC
Higher removes more hiss. Too high can thin the voice.
Turns down the pauses. It does not change sound that is already loud.
More options
This device keeps the file here. The other choice is for a program you run yourself.

What is noise reduction?
Noise reduction lowers unwanted steady sound, such as hiss, hum and room tone, in a recording. It turns down sound that stays the same, such as hiss, and leaves speech and music that sit well above that hiss. It is not an AI model. It works in your browser, so the file is not uploaded. Strength runs from 0 to 100 percent and starts at 55 percent, and a gate threshold from minus 60 to minus 20 dB, set to minus 42 by default, quiets the gaps between sounds. It handles steady hiss well, a fan or air conditioning fairly, and traffic, wind or other voices poorly. Raise the strength only while hiss remains, so you remove as little of the wanted sound as possible.
How to use it
- Keep it on this device That path does not upload.
- Set strength Start near 55% and raise it only if hiss remains.
- Save Choose WAV for a full-quality file, or MP3 when you need a smaller one. Nothing is uploaded.
How the hiss is turned down
The browser engine splits audio into overlapping frames, estimates how loud the noise is in each frequency bin, and turns those bins down before building the waveform again. It is the same idea as the open-source library noisereduce. It is weak on traffic, wind and other people talking.
Server mode (coming soon)
A server option for a stronger cleanup is planned. It would upload the file, so it is switched off for now. Everything on this page runs on your device.
What to expect
| Noise | Browser | Server (coming soon) |
|---|---|---|
| Steady hiss | Good | Very good |
| Fan or air conditioning | Fair | Good |
| Traffic, wind, other voices | Poor | Poor |
FAQ
Is this the same as AI denoise?
No. This tool turns down steady hiss. It is not an AI model. AI removers can do better on some kinds of noise, but they usually need a trained model or an upload to a server. This one stays on your device and works best on steady hiss.
Will it remove other people talking?
No. This tool targets sound that stays about the same, such as hiss, hum or room tone. Speech, traffic and wind change from moment to moment, so the tool cannot tell them apart from the voice you want to keep. It is not a stem splitter and it does not separate voices. For other people talking in the background, you need a different kind of tool.
Is browser mode private?
Yes. The file is decoded and processed on your device and is never uploaded. A server option is planned and is switched off for now, so nothing leaves your device.
