Frequently asked questions

Short, direct answers about how Audiolar works, which formats it supports and how your files are handled.

What is Audiolar?

Audiolar is a free suite of 18 online audio tools that run entirely in your browser. The edit tools cut, join, fade, reverse, change speed and pitch, and make ringtones. The convert tools turn audio files, WhatsApp voice notes and video soundtracks into MP3 or WAV. The enhance tools boost volume and bass, reduce steady noise, make speech clearer, create slowed and reverb edits and test a microphone. Audio is decoded and processed on your own device with the Web Audio API, so files are not uploaded to a server and nothing is stored after you close the tab. There is no account, no watermark and no trial. Results are saved as 16-bit WAV, or as MP3 at 128 to 320 kbps. The site is available in English, German, French and Swedish and works on phones and computers.

Core product FAQs

Do you upload my audio files?

No. Core tools process audio with the Web Audio API on your device. Files are not sent to our servers for cut, join, convert, fade, volume, bass, crisp, microphone test, browser noise reduction, or slowed reverb. Noise reduction can optionally call a Python server, and only if you point it at a machine you run yourself.

How does free noise reduction work?

It turns down sound that stays the same, such as hiss and room tone, and leaves speech and music that sit above that hiss. The same idea is used by Python noisereduce and by Audacity. Optional offline Python: pip install noisereduce.

Is this the same as AI noise removal?

No. This tool is not AI. Neural options like RNNoise or cloud AI can beat it on some noise types but often need models, uploads, or paid minutes. We stay free, private, and unlimited in the browser.

How do I fade out audio online for free?

Open the Fade tool, drop MP3 or WAV, set fade-out seconds, process, and download WAV or MP3. No account.

How do I make audio louder online free?

Use the Volume Booster: Boost (dB) or Normalize peak, process locally, download. The gain is exact while the file has room. If it would pass full scale, the whole file is turned down.

What does crisp / clearer audio mean?

Crisp mode lifts presence and air so muffled speech is easier to understand. It is not only a volume boost.

Can I make slowed and reverb songs free?

Yes, use Slowed + Reverb. Lower speed, raise reverb mix, and export WAV or MP3. Processing is on-device.

Which formats are supported?

Open the formats your browser can decode, typically MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, OPUS, and FLAC. The video tool also opens common video files when the browser can decode them. Save as 16-bit PCM WAV, or as MP3 from the in-browser encoder. A ringtone is a normal audio file, not an M4R.

Is there a Python library for better noise reduction?

Yes. noisereduce on GitHub and PyPI is the standard open spectral-gating library. We mirror that approach in JS for the site and ship python/reduce_noise.py for offline batch jobs. For neural quality, see RNNoise (C/WASM).

Can I use the results in commercial projects?

Audiolar adds no watermark to the files you save. What you may do with a recording still depends on who owns it. You must own the audio or hold a licence that allows editing and redistribution, for example for a podcast, a video or a product. The tools only process the file on your device and do not change who holds the rights.

How is Audiolar different from upload-based audio sites?

Upload-based sites send your file to a remote server, often add a queue, and sometimes ask for an account or add a watermark on the free plan. Audiolar processes the file on your device, so there is no upload wait, no account and no watermark. The trade-off is output: it saves WAV and MP3 only, and very large files depend on your device memory. See the Features page for a comparison table.
